On Saturday, The Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) held its annual Northwest Excellence in Journalism Awards to celebrate high quality journalism of all mediums in the region. The Seattle Globalist was awarded third place for “Best New Site of 2012” and team member Jessica Partnow won second place in the “Radio Special Report” category for a series on refugees in Puget Sound.
Alumna Kellie Cheadle with some of her colleagues at KING-TV swept the “General News Reporting” category for television markets 121 to 210, as well as the category for “Investigative Reporting.”
