The Seattle Globalist recognizes six global contributors to honor the work they have done as international activists, writers, journalists, and community leaders in the Pacific Northwest. The Globie Award ceremony takes place on October 4 at 6:30 p.m. at Washington Hall.

Meet the recipients:

Rita Zawaideh – founder of the Arab-American Community Coalition and Salaam Cultural Museum & owner of Caravan-Serai Tours

Liliana Lopez Caracoza – Tacoma Community College student & reporter, Historias Indigenas

Anna Goren – incoming Evans School student & food writer

Abby Higgins – freelance journalist based in Nairobi, Kenya & reporter, Slum Rising

Jill Mangaliman – community organizer, Got Green & Pin@y Sa Seattle

Muatasim Qazi – Pakistani journalist living in exile; assistant editor, The Baloch Hal
